Lil Nas X was planning to collaborate on a song with Miley Cyrus before COVID-19 pandemic
Lil Nas X first achieved success with the release of his country rap single Old Town Road on the viral popularity social media app TikTok in early 2019.
Several remixes of the song were released in the proceeding months, but by far the most popular featured country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, which helped it soar to number one on music charts around the world.
It turns out Nas had plans to follow-up all the success with some new music that included a collaboration with the country crooner’s daughter — pop superstar Miley Cyrus — but the COVID-19 pandemic put it on the back burner.

The Georgia native (born Montero Lamar Hill) shared the news about the Miley duet on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live on Wednesday.
During the conversation host Andy Cohen first asked him about when he last texted with Billy Ray, whom the rapper has since become close friends with.
‘The last thing that texted Billy Ray Cyrus was like, how, how was he doing maybe a month or so ago?’ the 21-year-old rapper responded.

It was at this point that the host talked about seeing Nas and Miley together at a Tom Ford fashion show in early 2019.
‘And I was like, “God, I would like to see the two of them do something together.” Have you thought about that?’ Andy asked with an inquisitive tone.
Nas had already been toying with the idea of a collaboration with Miley around that time of the fashion show.
‘Yeah, 100. I had plans to work on this one song with Miley earlier last year, and then the pandemic happened,’ the two-time Grammy winner confessed.
‘So we didn’t get to like meet up or anything, but, you know, maybe it’ll happen now.’

Both star performed during the Christmas special that was hosted by Nas
Nas and Miley may have missed out on working together in early 2020, but they did get to help kick off Amazon Music’s Holiday Plays together in the UK in Early December. Both of them got to perform songs, and Nas got to show off his infectious personality by playing host of the Christmas-themed show.
If and when Nas and Miley do team-up on a tune, they will have to create some major music magic in order to come close to the popularity of Old Town Road.
The catching tune spent 19 weeks atop the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, making it the longest-running number-one song since the chart debuted in 1958.
Along with Old Town Road, Nas’ debut EP also featured the the hit song Panini that hit number 5 on the Hot 100 and Rodeo which peaked at number 22.
